Abstract profile of an adult symbolising autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessment and mental health support

ASD is a neurodevelopmental difference and can fall into the category of ‘neurodiversity’, a term used to consider the natural differences in brain functioning in the human population. It affects how people interact with others, communicate, and learn.

In the UK, it is estimated that around 1 in 100 people are on the autism spectrum, representing more than 700,000 people nationwide, according to the National Autistic Society.

Our Adult Autism (ASD) Assessment provides a clear autism diagnosis, along with personalised feedback and practical advice on the next steps for therapy and support.

What is an Adult Autism Assessment?

What can an Adult Autism Assessment do for me?

Getting an Adult Autism (ASD) Assessment provides the opportunity to discuss your experiences with a professional, helping you gain greater clarity and understanding about yourself and your life.

A formal autism diagnosis through our ASD assessment can help you access support and reasonable accommodations in areas such as:

  • College or further education
  • The workplace
  • Disability benefits

Completing an adult ASD assessment can open doors to these resources and support systems, giving you the guidance and practical support needed to move forward with confidence.

Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may experience a range of differences in how they think, feel, and interact with others. Some common signs of autism in adults include:

These experiences can vary from person to person. An Adult Autism (ASD) Assessment can help you better understand these patterns, offering clarity and practical guidance for daily life.

All assessments will include in-depth interviews and questions about your life and how you experience the world. You will meet with the clinician for one or more interviews.

These meetings will discuss your experiences, background, and why you think you might be Autistic. You may be asked about your past and how you view the world around you.

A trusted person (partner, friend, or parent) may join for support.

It’s important to note that there is no “one-size-fits-all” assessment. Each autism assessment is comprehensive and carefully tailored to your individual needs.

Before your appointment, we’ll gather a detailed developmental history to better understand your background and experiences.

Your Adult Autism (ASD) Assessment may include:

  • A clinical interview and direct observation using recognised diagnostic tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R), conducted online.
  • Completion and analysis of standardised self-report measures.
  • Review of historical records, such as school reports or previous psychological or medical documentation (if available).
  • Optional third-party input from someone who has known you since childhood, such as a parent, partner, or close friend.
  • Your clinician will complete a thorough analysis of all collected information. This process may take between 2–8 weeks to allow for scoring, interpretation, and the creation of a detailed psychological diagnostic report.
  • You’ll receive a full report summarising the findings and providing your autism diagnosis if the criteria is met. This official report can be shared with health and educational institutions to access supports, grants, or accommodations.
